I am a junior at Clemson from Knoxville, TN. I am studying Chemisty with a minor in Non-profit leadership and hope to attend medical school to become a pediatrician after graduation. I have actually never been outside of the US before, so the India Housing project is going to be an exhilarating challenge for me!  My main motivation for participating in the program is to help and serve a family in India. I was especially drawn to this trip because it meets such a tangible need in an intercultural way. I hope that the house we build really improves their quality of life, and that our group can leave a lasting impact. In addition, I am excited about the opportunity to be immersed in two cultures at once. I can’t wait to live in a remote Indian village with Belgians! It’s going to be the experience of a lifetime! I am excited about all that I am going to learn, and the unique experience that is ahead of me.

I am a junior Microbiology major at Clemson University. My concentration is in Biomedicine and I plan on attending medical school after my days at Clemson have ended. I have always wanted to become an oncologist. I was born in Torrington, Connecticut and experienced my first culture shock when I was 10 years old and my family moved to South Carolina. I suppose this is one of the reasons I have the desire to be a part of this project, I want to experience a culture different from my own; To step away from all that is familiar to me and immerse myself in a society with traditions and customs vastly different from my own. I am very excited not only about building a house for a family in need, but also about building relationships with the people we have set out to help. I am eager to meet my Belgian team members and begin out work together in India. This is an opportunity I am blessed to have been given, and an experience I am sure I will never forget.

I am a Computer Science major at Clemson University.  Hailing from the great state of Hawaii, I was lucky enough to live in an extremely diverse culture and environment.  I was drawn to participate in the India Housing Project because I have always been an adventurer of sorts.  When I was a kid, we didn't have video games and a usable internet, so my friends and I would be pirates, and musketeers, and army soldiers in the woods.  This along with my interest in other culture, and a love of service (I know it sounds cliche) led me to sign up.

I have great expectations and hopes for this coming summer, and judging from all that I have heard form past participants, I doubt I will be disappointed.  I expect nothing less than life changing and eye opening.
